The functional and stylish overcoat: cuts for him

Let me use this opportunity to wish you all a happy New Year. I pray that 2017 will be a year of great success and growth for everyone.

In the coming weeks, I will share a post where I will outline a bit of Cuts for Him’s vision for this year. It will entail the direction Cuts for Him will be moving towards as a stylist hub, curator, photographer, and blog. I hope you are as excited as I am for this year.

last year (2016) for my last holiday of the year, I took with me an overcoat that I consider to be both functional and stylish. My girlfriend took me to Vienna as a birthday treat and this city blew me away with it charm and beautiful architecture. It was my first time to visit Vienna and I can truly say now that it certainly won’t be the last. As a “light traveller” it was important to take a few but key pieces with me on this trip.

This blue Vicenza overcoat was perfect for such travel as it is not bulky. Made out of wool and alpaca, this herringbone weaved coat provided me with comfort and warmth without compromising on sleekness and style.

This coat can be dressed up with a suit for a dapper city look or dressed down with a pair of jeans for the weekend.

To style this coat, I used the following items.

  • A pair of blue jeans. Nicely fitted blue jeans always does the trick for a smart casual look
  • A casual white shirt.
  • A knitted green tie.
  • A pair of zip up grey boots
  • The blue coat and a pocket square to put over it.

The grey accents on the coat nicely complements the trick-toned shoes, whilst the blue complements the jeans. The adding the pocket square on the overcoat was my way  of breaking up the coat whilst complementing my white short. In my opinion, wearing a pocket square on an overcoat is a great way to let everyone know that you know what you are doing.

so there you have it. One of styling this functional and stylish coat.

Please let me know in the comment section what you think about the look. How would you style this coat differently?
