Cords are back with a bang | Cuts for Him + Ralph Lauren

Where do I start? From the beginning, I guess :). Ok, attempt to make a dad joke failed, now back to the real business.

Corduroys were very popular in the 80s and parts of the 90s. As with everything fashion, they were no longer trendy and you wouldn’t be caught dead in them.. Up until two seasons ago, they had a reputation for being for granddads and grandmas. Fast forward to now when Cords have become cool again. Major fashion houses have added them to their collection for Autumn/Winter 2018/19.

I personally think Cords are more versatile than many fabric types out there. Especially for men, they can easily be dressed up or dressed down. Much easier than denim as they sit Continue reading Cords are back with a bang | Cuts for Him + Ralph Lauren

The everyday weekend look | Cuts for Him

Ok so this post came a little bit later than planned. The idea was to share it last weekend but as they say, even the best plans do come undone from time to time lol.

This is meant to be a quick post about dressing down whilst staying stylish. As you may already know, suits are my thing. I would wear a suit in my sleep if it were practical lol. However, there is nothing worse than going to an event or a hangout and feeling overdressed. In my opinion, its even worst than being underdressed. Make you feel like a right idiot seeking attention. At least for weddings, formal dinners and other similar occasions, you know you have to dress to the nines. And of course, if you are only hanging out with your boys over a pint down the local bar then by all means roll up with your PJs. Actually, please don’t. You might look like you need help and at best, your mates might use it to laugh at you but you get the point I am trying to make.

So anyway as stated above, the point of this post is to create a simple  but effective look that transcends many Continue reading The everyday weekend look | Cuts for Him

Ice Cream for BoohooMAN | Cuts for Him

I am super excited to be working with BoohooMAN. You must be thinking why would Cuts for Him be excited about a company that makes casual wear. Ha, well that’s where the story gets interesting.

BoohooMan has launched their first full tailoring range and I had the pleasure of working with them to showcase just how versatile their current collection is. I was literally spoilt for choice choosing a suit to style from their tailoring range.

In the end, I went for a slim-fit double-breasted suit which really stood out to me. Of course, I was looking forward to my new suit but then discovered upon delivery that the warehouse sent me a mismatching trouser with the jacket. Was the mistake done by the warehouse or did I make it?

Instinctively, I placed the jacket and trouser into the return parcel to send it back. But then I thought, what good am I as a stylist if I can’t think on my feet and style a look I have not planned for. For every challenge, there is an opportunity I said to myself.

So instead of sending them back, I styled both separately. The fact that I was able to style them separately shows just how versatile BoohooMan’s tailoring range is.

I will show you how I styled the trouser in another blog post.

I paired the jacket with a plain navy dress trouser. Matching my favorite white sneakers was a white crew neck t-shirt.

My pocket square of choice for the day was a tasty cone ice cream with toppings.

The inspiration behind this look was the sunny weather in London.

Let me know your thoughts on this look.

Breakup to makeup with your suit | Cuts for Him

If you are hard-core tailoring look kind of person as myself, there is one skill you must master. Breaking up full suits to form mix and match combos. This skill is particularly important if you do not have a plethora of suits at your disposal.

I don’t know about you but I think there is so much fun in deconstructing (as it were) a suit to form a new look with different elements from another suit. Come to think of it, there isn’t much fun in wearing a full suit beyond picking a suitable tie and Continue reading Breakup to makeup with your suit | Cuts for Him
