Best of 2017 in picture | Cuts for Him

And just like that, 2017 is gone. I can still remember vividly every key moment of my work on Cuts for Him like it just happened. From my trips to the middle east to having a key meeting with one of my favorite grooming brand, Elemis. The sketches I make before a shoot, to waiting for the golden hour to shoot the perfect pictures. Oh, the memories. 2017 was a great year for Cuts for Him. I may need a couple of months to properly label 2017 but I know for sure that it was a key year in the life of Cuts for Him. A year of creative expansion and opened opportunities. Opportunities to work with bigger brands and better creatives.

To help me articulate, here are photos of key work and places I went to in 2017:

The above shot was taken for a piece I did on identity. The piece itself is called Cultured in Culture and can be found here if you fancy reading it. One of my most personal pieces.

Like the first photo, this one just above is a personal one. In fact, it started the Cultured in Culture series. This series looks at being born in one culture but growing up in another. The crossroads these cultures brought into my life. Have a read here.

Cocktails at Artesian bar | The Langham, London | Cuts for Him Review

I trust you’ve all had a great weekend. The weather was at least consistent on this side of the world. I had a great weekend as I went to Salisbury, southern England,  for a couple of day. I visited a friend who just moved there and he lives in the most remote part of Salisbury that I had no mobile phone network during my stay lol. It was kind of refreshing as for once, I had to just forget about my phone and enjoy nature. It was very peaceful and calm and I loved every bit of it.

Anyway enough of me trying to make you jealous about my weekend lol. I have been meaning to tell you all about this cool cocktail bar in central London called Artesian. I first heard of  the Artesian a couple of months ago through a friend. Even though I was told good things about it, I wanted to check it out myself. So of course, I went for a visit to see what the vibe was like.

Cultured in Culture | Government wharf, Freetown

Cultured in Culture, or The Crowd – My people, or Standing out “with” the crowd or so many other titles I could have given this post looking at the photos my sister took of me on holiday in Freetown.

The idea to do this shoot was borne out of a strong desire to capture Freetown or even the people in a way that is very unassuming and unrehearsed. I had no desire to take photos at the plush side of town whether along the peninsular where you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the world or indeed on the beautiful hills to the west of town. Government Wharf itself has a long and interesting history but I won’t go into it now. Partly because I do not know much of the history but yeah lets just leave that along shall we lol. So I will leave that to the history buffs out there to dissect.

Big market, Freetown

Now where was I? oh yeah the reason for shooting at the Wharf. I personally think the Wharf represent the true hustle and bustle of Freetown in a way very few places do. It shows a people with unique individual stories that come together for a common purpose. The purpose of buying or to selling, rendering a service or solicit one, to see or to be seen.
